Personality Profile: Daenerys is one of the moral centers of the story, along with Jon Snow and Ned Stark. While some of her measures to achieve her goal are ruthless, at heart, Daenerys is a compassionate and caring woman. After experiencing being sold into marriage, Daenerys has become adamant that no man should be bound in chains. She has made it her goal to free the slaves of Essos and Slaver's Bay.
As a queen, she focuses a great deal on caring for her people. She's intelligent and diligent, willing to compromise to an extent that she infringes on some of her beliefs. Her people are her children in her eyes and they come first, above her personal goal of returning to Westeros and reclaiming the Iron Throne. Dany is intelligent, savvy, and accepting. She listens to her advisers and to all petitioners that come to her. She marries a man for the sake of peace and opts to remain in Meereen rather than sail home. She has her flaws, sometimes reacting with anger and showing a measure of ruthlessness that goes against her ideals, such as using torture and crucifying slave masters. She also doubts herself a great deal and is overly worried about being mad like her father.
Magic ties in a great deal to her story. She often has prophetic dreams and managed to hatch dragons from stone eggs. Despite her ambitions, she dreams of a simple life with someone who genuinely loves her, as well as finding her childhood home, the house with the red door. The woman and the queen are often at odds, but she always puts duty first above personal desire.
